The Sihlfeld Cemetery in Zurich Switzerland has installed a “Der Trauerautomat,” roughly translating to “The Mourning Machine.” In it you can find tissues, rosaries, condolence cards, and even a tiny music box playing “You Are My Sunshine.”
I have to say, this makes perfect practical sense to me. I love the acknowledgement of what it means to mourn and the items that may help make this process more comfortable and meaningful. Perhaps a vending machine for mourning jewelry is next :)
