This ring carries that intention in a modern form. A knife edge band in 14k gold, precise and architectural, with pavé diamonds set along one side that catch light as it moves. At the center, a shield cut salt and pepper diamond — icy, included, entirely its own thing. Not a traditional diamond trying to be flawless. The Hoju is a representation of a sacred gem in Japanese culture. It is sometimes called “the Gem which makes all your dreams come true.” Many believe it can cleanse corruption, bestow blessings, increase deep understanding, and expel evil - I mean, what more could you want?! Its teardrop form most likely comes from a peach, the symbolic fruit of healing and immortality. This iconic shape can be found in art and as an architectural element throughout Japan.

This version of the Shield Ring is centered on a Montana Sapphire unlike anything we have come across. The radiating facet work is the creation of renowned award winning gem cutter Chris Wolfsberg, whose fantasy cut technique transforms the stone into something that defies easy description. The facets fan out from the center like a starburst, catching and refracting light in ways a standard cut never could.
And then there is the color. In some light a smoky purple. In others a clear blue. Sometimes both at once. It shifts as you move, as the light changes, as the day unfolds around you. A stone that refuses to be defined by a single moment.
